Plettenberg Bay, South Africa

Plettenberg Bay is the jewel of the Garden Route and is tranquil and charming, hospitable and rather special. Plettenberg Bay offers the visitor miles of sweeping, unspoilt golden beaches, a dramatic rocky peninsula, intriguing lagoons and estuaries, towering indigenous forests and the sea. With its exceptional climate and beautiful view sites over the Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay is perfect for tourists interested in exploring, watching or just lazing. This spectacular area also includes the towns of Keurbooms with excellent land based whale watching along the coast.

Our camera is installed at the Beacon Island Resort which is one of the most sought-after holiday destinations. Built on a rocky promontory jutting into the warm Indian Ocean, Beacon Island's setting remains unsurpassed.

The Great Escarpment sweeps the southern and eastern region of the country. 300 km west of Durban is the kingdom of Lesotho, a separate country entirely within the political boundaries of South Africa.

Key aspects of tourism
Tourism is quite important for South Africa. Popular tourist destinations are Sun City with Pilanesberg National Park, Kruger National Park, Cape Town with Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope, the Garden Route and the sandy beaches around Durban.
