Munich, Germany

The view over the regional capital Munich, its great outback and even the view over the Alpes if the weather is good - from the "Salzkammergut" up to the Allgaeu mountains - is unique. During the Oktoberfest, the earthTV camera shows the fun rides, especially the Ferris wheel. The distinguished silvery bright tent roof of the Olympic stadion of Munich is the perfect example of exceptional architecture. Among the sights of Munich are the Marienplatz with its new and old town hall, Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady), Karlstor and Stachus and of course Viktualienmarkt.
 
In September and October, the spotlight in Munich is on the famous Oktoberfest (also called "Wiesn"). On Theresienwiese, the tents have been built up months prior to the event - there are the well-known tents from Hacker, Schottenhamel and Bräurosl, Fischer Vroni and the Schützenzelt at Oktoberfest. The Wiesn has a long tradition in Munich - in 2009 176. Oktoberfest has been celebrated!
