Arcachon, France

Arcachon is a well known seaside resort at the french Atlantic coast (near Bordeaux) and is also known as "the city of four seasons". The charm of the ending 19th century can still be experienced by strolling through the "Ville d'Hiver" district, where well-known architects left their impressive traces by building extravagant villas. In Arcachon, celebrating has a long tradition – the "Festival of Music" in June and the "Festical of the Sea" in August are considered to be the year's highlights. Another point of interest is the "dune du pilat", Europe's biggest sand dune that offers a wonderful panoramic view from a sea level of 107m.

The earthTV camera is facing the Bay of Arcachon, the most interesting part of the "Côte d'Argent" – the "Silver Coast", which emerges as an almost infinite sand beach from Pointe de Grave towards Arcachon. The view wanders to the peninsula of Cap-Ferret, which seperates the bay from the open sea. Visitors of this region can enjoy 84 km of sandy beaches in total as well as the biggest oyster farming area in Europe.
