The earthTV camera is located in the Southern part of Tenerife, the biggest of the seven Canary Islands, in the holiday resort Las Américas (between the municipalities of Arona and Adeje). Although this area has the most hours of sunshine and is known for its accessible beaches equipped with all amenities, it also has retained its picturesque villages with its traditional air and natural areas of great interest. The beaches are mostly man-made with imported sand from Africa due to the darkness of the native volcanic sand. In Playa de Las Américas the leisure activity is remarkable, which the earthTV camera shows both by day and night, as the resort area features bars, night clubs, restaurants and a lot of other attractions such as the observation of the colonies of whales that inhabit the waters.

The earthTV camera also captures the Pico del Teide, the highest elevation of Spain and third largest active island vulcano in the world. The Teide National Park was named an Unesco World Heritage site in 2007.

Geographic Information

Mainland Spain is dominated by high plateaus and mountain ranges such as the Pyrenees or the Sierra Nevada. Running from these heights are several major rivers such as the Tagus, the Ebro, the Duero, the Guadiana and the Guadalquivir. Alluvial plains are found along the coast, the largest of which is that of the Guadalquivir in Andalusia. Spain is bound to the east by the Mediterranean Sea (containing the Balearic Islands), to the north by the Bay of Biscay and to its west by the Atlantic Ocean, where the Canary Islands off the African coast are found.
