Pretoria, South Africa

Located in the northern part of Gauteng Province, Pretoria is one of South Africa's three capital cities (besides Cape Town and Bloemfontein) and de facto the national capital. Pretoria is part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and therefore sometimes referred to as Tshwane. At the moment there's a discussion about the name of the capital - this issue is still being decided.

The earthTV camera is located on the UNISA campus. UNISA is the largest university in South Africa and one of the largest distance education institutions in the world. It offers internationally accredited qualifications and has world-class resources that are motivating a future generation. The vision "Towards the African University in the service of humanity" drives UNISA to find answers to Africa's education and developmental problems.

The Great Escarpment sweeps the southern and eastern region of the country. 300 km west of Durban is the kingdom of Lesotho, a separate country entirely within the political boundaries of South Africa.
