Duesseldorf is the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city is situated near the river Rhine and is inhabited by 580,000. Over 10 million people live in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan area. Duesseldorf is well known for the "Kö" (Königsallee), a popular shopping destination. Among the sights of Duesseldorf are the ruins of Kaiserpfalz Kaiserswerth, Duesseldorf castle and Johanneskirche.
