Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is the capital and the most populous city of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain.

The earthTV camera offers a stunning view over Barcelona directly from the Mediterranean Sea. The camera is located on the Eurostar Grand Marina Hotel in the World Trade Center in the middle of the Old Harbour. Barcelona's Port Vell stretches from the Columbus Monument to the Barceloneta. The wooden walkway, known as the Rambla de Mar, leads to the retail and leisure complex Maremagnum, Barcelona's L’Aquàrium and the IMAX Port Vell cinema. The metropolis with several kilometers of beach is a major tourist destination and gleams now like one of the most valuable pearls on the Mediterranean coast.

Barcelona is also particularly renowned for its rich cultural heritage, which it owes mainly to the architect Antoni Gaudí and his most famous artwork, the still unfinished church Sagrada Família in Barcelona.

Running from these heights are several major rivers such as the Tagus, the Ebro, the Duero, the Guadiana and the Guadalquivir. Alluvial plains are found along the coast, the largest of which is that of the Guadalquivir in Andalusia. Spain is bound to the east by the Mediterranean Sea (containing the Balearic Islands), to the north by the Bay of Biscay and to its west by the Atlantic Ocean, where the Canary Islands off the African coast are found.
