The earthTV camera is installed on the “Mönchsberg” mountain, overlooking the historical city centre with its massive fortress “Festung Hohensalzburg” and various baroque churches and towers, all within a beautiful Alpine setting.
With about 150,00 residents, Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and as well the capital of the federal state of Salzburg. The city is located on the banks of the Salzach River, at the northern boundary of the Alps. Salzburg's Old Town with its world famous baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps, and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Geographic Information

Austria is a small landlocked country bordered by Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Slovenia. The Danube, the second largest river in Europe, runs eastward through Austria. Most of the country is alpine or sub-alpine with heavily wooded mountains and hills. More than half of the country is mountainous - the biggest mountains are 3,000 meter peaks like Großglockner.
