The Arab emirate Qatar is a small country in the Middle East, situated on northeasterly coast of the Arabian Peninsula. To the south, Qatar shares its only land border with Saudi Arabia while the rest of the territory is occupying the small Qatar Peninsula, surrounded by the Persian Gulf.

Doha, the capital city of Qatar, is also the emirate’s largest city. With about 500,000 residents over 80% of Qatar’s total population is living in the capital which is also the country’s centre of economy.

The “Katara – Valley of Culture” is host to our earthTV camera. From there, the camera will broadcast live impressions from all activities going on in and around the entertainment centre. Focus will be especially on the amphitheatre and Katara Beach.

Geographic Information

Der Süden des Landes ist geprägt von Wüstengebieten und Salzsümpfen. Letztere verweisen auf die Zeit, als Katar sich noch auf einer Insel befand. Ferner charakteristisch für Katar ist das leicht gewellte Hügelland, das sich im Norden befindet. Mit dem geringen Jahresniederschlag von unter 100 mm gehört Katar zu den trockensten Landschaften der Erde.
