Geografische Information:
The Himalaya region of the country is the opposite of the tropical south, around which the Indian Ocean ebbs and flows. The sacred Ganges River makes a stately descent from the mountains across the plains of the north-east, emptying into the Bay of Bengal through what is now Bangladesh. Other important rivers are the Narmada, the Godavari and the Krishna. The plains become the Deccan Plateau, which is the southern half of the sub-continent.
